Celia's Baptism

I am blessed by having two daughters and two goddaughters.  My first goddaughter is my cousin Olivia. For twenty years I was the sole granddaughter on my mom's side of the family and then Olivia, the youngest of us all, came along. It was really special to be asked to be her godmother and an honor to watch her grow into a lovely young woman.

My second goddaughter is the daughter of my dear friend Robyn and the little sister of Catherine and Camille (previously featured in this blog on numerous occasions). This time the honor stemmed from Robyn's and my longtime friendship that has found new meaning since having twin girls within 7 months of each other. While we've been close for almost twenty years, her support through my rough pregnancy, surviving the first year of twins, and freakily similar career woes, our relationship has hit a whole new level. Asking Robyn to be Lucy's godmother and becoming Celia's reflects the responsibility and affection we have for each other's children.

The Saturday evening baptism during Advent was beautiful. Celia wore a gorgeous gown that Robyn had purchased while living in Europe - a decade before she had even met David - a blind faith that she would be blessed with a daughter some day. Triply blessed as the case may be.

Mayhem and Mischief are brewing

Sacrilege? The girls were having such fun and so cute playing together, that the adults failed to think that perhaps playing under the altar wasn't an appropriate place for such silliness...
