Christmas 2011

We send great tidings of joy! A year ago we adorned our holiday letter with pictures of babes, this year we have children. I look at their long, lean bodies and wonder what children are these? How did they stretch from the length of my hand to the length of my body?

The girls have once again found great joy in the holiday season. They name the colors of Christmas lights around town and count candy canes, snowmen, and gingerbread girls. They tear open holiday cards as quickly as they can be removed from the mailbox. They help Mommy wrap presents with lots and lots of tape randomly placed. They delight in hanging ornaments on the tree with their pictures and names ("it's an S for Sage!"). We are savoring their naive innocence this season as all their joy in the holidays has been without any inkling of the deluge of presents that will greet them in the morning.

So with these tidings, we proudly share our third annual report. Lucy continues to struggle to grow, although she did find herself on the lower percentages of the height chart this year (hooray - she's never previously even made it into the percentages). She is currently a mommy's girl and finds great comfort in Lion and Tiger and an entire menagerie of animals in her crib, the census of which must include Big Dog, Kitty Cat, Purple Kitty, Grey Kitty, New Kitty, Giraffe pillow, Blue Dog, Pink Bunny, Oh No, and Lamby. She finds great joy in bouncing and in having things her own way.

Sage is healthy and strong and... a bit accident prone. She finds joy in bouncing naked and raucously laughing with Lucy from their adjacent cribs. Comfort is a good "cuddle rock" with Daddy, Chick and Baa in hand.
Sage, pre-Photoshop magic.
Brian remains our even keel, taking on heroic household projects like single handedly tackling a drainage project in our back garden. He finds comfort in feeding the girls and joy in their abundant silliness. Jen has found comfort in her new part time position with USA Football. She is overjoyed to have three days with mornings to pursue her own projects and afternoons with the girls.

We wish you and yours comfort and joy in the year ahead.
