State Fair 2011

While this has been a hard year for the State Fair because of the weather related tragedy at the Sugarland concert, it has been a good fair year for Sage and Lucy. Finally able to walk about on their own two feet, in two separate visits the girls get hands-on with their state fair experience.

The hands-down best toddler exhibit is the Little Hands Farm where the kids feed the livestock, plant seeds, harvest vegetables and apples, collect eggs, gather wool, drive tractors and milk cows. At the end, they "sell" the fruits of their labor and are given "money" to buy a snack at the store (we purchased milk, cheese and applesauce in our two visits).
Lucy and Sage follow the chicken tracks with their aprons and baskets.

Lucy examines the cow before feeding it grain.

Sage plants vegetables in the garden.

Lucy mounts the pink tractor, but finds her feet are still a bit short for the peddles.

Lucy milks the cow while Sage observes.

Sage got personal with a sheep other than Baa or Shaun.

Roasted Indiana sweet corn is GOOD.
Bonus! Running into Aunt Debbie and Nana.
Lucy enjoys the pigs.

The girls LOVED the elephants in the circus.
The girls also really enjoyed the DNR exhibit. Here they play with a frog (not real).
Playing in the kids area of the DNR exhibit.
And here they engage in one of their very favorite activities - playing in water.

As the final stop and what has become tradition, the girls caused havoc in the home ec building.
